Soaring Futures: Bishop L. J. Guillory Launches Youth Aviation Initiative at Tuskegee Aeronautical Museum

During a prestigious event at the Tuskegee Aeronautical Museum (T.A.M.) on April 5, 2025, students and educators gathered alongside notable city leaders including Compton Chamber of Commerce President Dr. Lestean Johnson, CUSD Police Chief William Wu, Mayor Pro-Tem Deidre Duhart, and Emmy-winning innovator Eddie Barber.

Bishop L. J. Guillory, Ombudsman General and Executive Director of the Tuskegee Aeronautical Museum (T.A.M.), is launching a new initiative to recruit and inspire young students to become future leaders in aviation and aerospace.

This effort comes on the heels of General Benjamin O. Davis Middle School being named a top ten finalist in the 2024 World’s Best Schools Prizes for Innovation — the only U.S. school in that category. Bishop Guillory emphasized the importance of early recruitment into STEM fields, praising Compton Unified School District’s 21st Century Learning Specialists, Jose Gonzalez and Lisette Estrada, for their dedication to advancing student excellence.

With over 178,000 students participating in national invention competitions this past school year, Bishop Guillory’s initiative marks a significant stride in bridging youth with innovation and opportunity.

You will find more details on this initiative on Bishop L. J. Guillory's Press Release.
