Centennial High School: A Legacy of Excellence and a Vision for the Future

Centennial High School, located in Compton, California, has been a cornerstone of the community since its establishment in 1954. The school currently serves approximately 968 students across grades 9 through 12, with a dedicated faculty of about 44 full-time teachers, resulting in a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 21.78.

In recent years, Centennial High School has experienced a slight increase in enrollment, attributed to efforts such as credit recovery programs that have enabled students to make up credits and return to the comprehensive high school.

Looking ahead, the Compton Unified School District (CUSD) has embarked on an ambitious project to construct a new Centennial High School campus. The architectural firm DLR Group was selected to design the new facility, following their work on the new Compton High School, which is set to open in 2025.

The construction of the new Centennial High School will commence following the completion of Compton High School, reflecting CUSD's commitment to providing state-of-the-art educational facilities for its students.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by CUSD to upgrade its facilities, with the goal of having two of the newest, state-of-the-art high schools in California by 2030.

The new Centennial High School is expected to embody modern design elements while honoring the school's rich history and legacy.

The staff at Centennial High School is led by principals Bobby Walker, Ed.D. and Rebecca Perez, and includes assistant principals Christopher Calvin and Emmanuel Ikeokonta, among other dedicated educators and support staff.

These developments underscore Centennial High School's ongoing commitment to providing quality education and adapting to the evolving needs of its student body and the broader community.
