The event started with a welcome message acknowledging distinguished guests by the event coordinator Dr. Lestean Johnson, President of Compton Chamber of Commerce.
The color guard presented the U.S. flag while attendees stood to show respect, and veterans rendered a salute. The National Anthem was sung as all attendees stood in silence as a show of respect. As part of our commitment to supporting those who have served, we offered free meals throughout the Compton Veterans Stand Down event. Veterans enjoyed nutritious, freshly prepared meals at no cost, thanks to the generosity of our local community partners and volunteers. These meals were available to all veterans in attendance as a way to honor their service and ensure their well-being during the event. All participants were encouraged to stop by, grab a meal, and connect with fellow veterans in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Our partner "For the Love of our Veterans" organization provided free clothing and shoes to all veterans attending the Compton Veterans Stand Down event. Thanks to the generosity of our local and regional community partners, a wide selection of essential items, including jackets, shirts, pants, shoes, and more, were available. These items were offered to help ensure our veterans have the support and resources they need. All participating veterans were encouraged to visit the clothing distribution area to pick up what they needed and take advantage of this opportunity to stay warm, comfortable, and well-equipped.
